Hughie had a remarkable love for children, and children were happily drawn to him. It was never more apparent than in the image below:
Hughie's place in rock and roll history is guaranteed forever. Not only did he write the words and music for the song "Green Grass and High Tides", which many consider one of the best rock songs ever, but he is also the band's lead singer and lead guitarist on the song.

On top of that, he wrote and performed another historical blockbuster song "Stick Around For Rock and Roll", as well as inking the popular songs "There Goes Another Love Song", and "Hurry Sundown".
The Outlaws were one of the most popular bands back in the seventies, and Hughie was their heart of soul. In the Eighties, Hughie continued to tour with the Outlaws. After that he played with Lynyrd Skynyrd for nearly a decade before reforming the Outlaws in 2005.

The reformation of the Outlaws was a great success. It featured Monte Yoho and David Dix on drums, Chris Anderson on guitar, Randy Threet on bass, and of course; Hughie Thomasson on lead guitar and vocals. They had been touring and were about to release a new CD.

In recent concerts, the band sounded as good as any band around. Hughie's voice was unbelievably crisp and clear after over 30 years of touring. You can hear it for yourself by listening to the song "Full Circle" which was going to on be their new CD. This is vintage Hughie Thomasson music, and it hasn't even been released yet!
